The Ballard kitchen

The problem

A 1990s honey oak kitchen boxed in by a wall to the dining room. Two cooks, one narrow aisle, and a fridge door that blocked the back door.

What we changed

  • Non-structural wall removed, opening the kitchen to the dining room
  • Island with seating for three and a prep sink
  • Oak cabinets in a lighter finish, full-height pantry wall
  • Under-cabinet lighting and new circuits throughout
